The HCMS school community has developed the Uniform Policy for appropriate clothing and appearance. The Unifrom Policy regulates student dress so respect for oneself and pride in our community is shown. The policy has been determined based on preserving students' safety and health, understanding appropriate dress in preparation for life situations, and presenting a positive image. All clothes should be neat, clean, and in good repair.
Toddler Level
Toddler level students are exempt from the color and logo requirements of the uniform policy. Children should dress simply and suitably. Sneakers and leather shoes are both acceptable. NO flip-flops, sandals, high-heels, Crocs/croc-style, or open-toed shoes are allowed.
Early Childhood and Elementary Levels
Uniform colors are dark blue, white, and khaki. Clothing must not have pictures, illustrations, writing, or logos (other than the HCMS logo).
TOPS:
- Must be white or dark blue.
- Shirts may be crew neck (tee-shirt), polo, cotton button down, turtleneck, or Peter Pan style.
- Short or long sleeves are acceptable. No tank tops or V-necks are allowed.
- Shirts, sweaters, vests, and sweatshirts must bear the school logo.
- Sweaters, vests, and sweatshirts must be solid navy blue.
BOTTOMS:
- Color must be dark blue, denim, or dark or light khaki.
- Pants, shorts, skorts, skirts, and girls jumpers are allowed.
- Shorts, skorts, skirts, and jumpers approaching knee-length are acceptable.
- Pant hems may not extend beyond the heel of the shoe.
- No sweatpants or overalls.
FOOTWEAR:
- Sneakers and leather shoes are both acceptable
- NO flip-flops, sandals, high-heels, Crocs/croc-style, or open-toed shoes are allowed.
Elementary level students may wear navy blue sweatshirt and sweatpants on designated gym days.
FREE DRESS:
Students are allowed "Free Dress" on special occasions and on the first Friday of each month. Casual street clothing of their choice is accepted on these days provided the clothing is weather-appropriate, clean, comfortable, in good taste, and must not hinder student's participation in any activity.

Uniforms are available from Lands End, complete with our school logo. A full list of accepted items is available on their website.
